FAQ
Will polycarbonate turn yellow over time?
No. We use dual-side UV-coated polycarbonate links that are warranted against yellowing, hazing, or loss of transparency for a minimum of 10 years under Indian climate conditions.
Is it as secure as a steel shutter?
Polycarbonate is 250 times stronger than glass and 30 times stronger than acrylic by impact resistance. While not equivalent to heavy-gauge steel, it is extremely difficult to break and fully adequate for retail security.
Can polycarbonate shutters be motorized?
Yes. Polycarbonate links are lightweight, so even small tubular motors operate them effortlessly. Motorization is recommended for large openings.
How do I clean a polycarbonate shutter?
Clean with mild soap and water using a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, acetone, or benzene-based solvents as these can scratch the UV coating.
Is it bullet-resistant?
Standard polycarbonate shutters are not certified bullet-resistant. However, high-grade (25mm+) solid polycarbonate panels can be specified for high-security applications — please enquire for a custom quote.
What is the price difference versus aluminium shutters?
Polycarbonate shutters are typically 80–100% more expensive than equivalent aluminium shutters due to the raw material cost. The investment is justified by the advertising value of 24/7 product visibility.
